Job Description

Position Summary: The Program Chair is an employee of Argosy University (AU) and is appointed to be the academic and administrative leader of a specific program (or programs) offered at a campus by AU.  The Program Chair is responsible to the campus VPAA and/or the campus President, and the College Dean for the efficient and effective functioning of the program.  The Program Chair is responsible for fulfilling all duties in conformity with the policies and procedures of AU as well as those processes and mechanisms developed within the campus in which the program is offered.

Key Job Elements:

·         Lead the program faculty in the development, implementation, and oversight of the MAED, EdS, EdD degree programs and other approved degree programs and non-degree continuing education   including overseeing the ongoing delivery of courses.

·         Manage the operations of the programs. Coordinate and collaborate with other functional departments on campus.

·         In the case of certification/licensure programs, assist in ensuring that all state expectations are rigorously followed, including qualifications for hiring of adjuncts, data collection requirements and submissions, state reports (developed in concert with CS), policies for practicum/internship, etc.

·         Recruit, supervise, train, develop, and evaluate adjunct faculty.

·         Play an integral role in the growth of the program, enrollment and field training sites.

·         Provide effective leadership, both within the program and throughout the University.

·         Participate in the chairs’ meetings held by the College Dean and actively contribute to the work of this group.

·         Engage in public relations with regard to organizations impacted by the program; serve as liaison with the local professional community, k-12 schools, colleges, and the public.

·         Engage in scholarship and service to the profession

·         Carry out other duties as assigned by the College Dean, campus President or Vice President. 

Position Requirements:

·         A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral experience

·         Experience in education and training in the discipline of the program

·         Evidence of management experience or potential

·         Current certification/licensure as a school administrator

·         Minimum of 4 years of P-12 administrative experience as a line administrator

·         Educational Requirements: Doctoral degree in Education (PhD or EdD)

·         Online teaching experience

·         Other requirements specific to the discipline

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Direct:  Campus VPAA or Campus Dean - 50%

College Dean – 50%
