THE DISTRICT
Located in California's capital, the Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) serves a growing population of 1.8 million within a 2,400 square mile service area.
With more than 80,000 students enrolled in credit granting programs, LRCCD is the second largest district in the state and one of the largest in the nation.
The District includes four colleges--American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake, and Sacramento City--as well as educational centers in Davis, Natomas, Placerville, and West Sacramento.
Recognized as a leader in developing partnerships with business and industry, the District's Workforce and Economic Development division provides employee training for private businesses and government agencies, as well as a Small Business Development Center, a Center for International Trade Development, and the Training Source.
LRCCD employs over 3,000 full-time equivalent employees and is widely respected for its sound fiscal management.
THE COMMUNITY
Sacramento is the capital of the most populous state in the union and the hub of California's political and economic life. The area enjoys a year-round temperate climate, and its central geographic location gives easy access to San Francisco, the Pacific Ocean, the Sierra Nevadas, Lake Tahoe, and the Mother Lode country.
The area also offers many cultural and social opportunities. Sacramento has outstanding theaters, art galleries, professional sports, outdoor recreation and a restored Old Sacramento.
Advanced educational opportunities are readily available at local universities such as: the University of California at Davis; California State University, Sacramento; Drexel University; and McGeorge School of Law.
Sacramento is a leading growth area with expanding industries in biotechnology, clean/green technologies, and health care. It offers many attractive residential areas and regional parks.
Position Summary:
The Board of Trustees of the Los Rios Community College District, Sacramento, California, invites applications and nominations for the position of Chancellor. The Chancellor is the chief executive officer of the four-college district and reports to a seven-member elected Board.
The Los Rios District seeks as Chancellor a person who has stature as a leader and is capable of continuing the District's pre-eminence among community colleges.

Minimum Qualifications:
The Board of Trustees and constituencies of LRCCD have identified the following desirable qualities and skills in the Chancellor who will assume the stewardship of the District's vision and ensure the completion of goals to achieve that vision.
REQUIREMENTS
- Earned doctorate from an accredited college or university is preferred; a master's degree is required.
- Experience and demonstrated achievement through leadership in an accredited college, college district, or similar institution at the level of vice president or higher. Individuals in the private sector with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply. Experience in a multi-unit organization is desirable.
- Experience which demonstrates strong financial management skills.
- Knowledge of California community college finance and educational issues is desirable.
- Successful administrative experience in teaching and learning, strategic planning, personnel relations, technology, and facilities development and maintenance is desirable.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants must attach the following information to the online administrative application by September 10, 2012:
- A five-page letter of application addressing the District's challenges and the ways the applicant meets the required qualifications, skills and qualities as listed in the brochure/announcement.
- A current resume including educational background, professional experience, achievements and professional activities.
- A list of six to eight references (including supervisors, colleagues, faculty, staff, students and community members) with titles and current phone numbers. These references may be contacted for candidates who are recommended as finalists.

- Copies of all college-level transcripts.
A Search Committee representing faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community members will review materials from all qualified applicants. Following the application deadline, the Search Committee will interview selected candidates in early October, and refer finalist candidates to the Board of Trustees. Finalists selected by the Board of Trustees will be asked to return for a full day of interviews and meetings with constituent groups and will be asked to submit official transcripts and authorization for further background/credit checks.
Conditions:
All Positions: Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. When education is a requirement for the position, official academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be submitted within 60 days of hire.
Administrative/Executive/Faculty Positions: Successful candidates selected for an interview will be eligible for reasonable reimbursement of travel expenses.
Administrative/Executive Positions: Administrative positions may be subject to the District's Conflict of Interest Code, and a statement of economic interest is required within thirty (30) days following appointment to the position. Administrative/Executive positions are exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
