The Institution:
Sacramento City College is an urban college in a park-like setting located in the heart of the Sacramento metropolitan area. The College is a learning center for approximately 23,000 day and evening students. Founded in 1916, Sacramento City College is a place of tradition and history, with a vitality and diversity that is contemporary. The College consists of a main campus and outreach centers in Davis, Downtown, and West Sacramento. Classes are offered seven days a week, both day and evening. Position Summary:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY CLASSIFIED POSITION
Under the direction of the appropriate supervisor, operates computer, telephone and radio communications equipment to receive emergency calls and routine calls for service; provides information, dispatches police and emergency personnel; types, files and performs a wide variety of clerical support duties in the police department and/or other departments. Responsibilities:
Operates a variety of communications equipment, including telephone, two-way radio and Computer Aided Dispatch system. Handles complaints and answers inquiries requiring knowledge of the campus and surrounding areas, services available, and appropriate procedures to use for any given situation such as parking permits, disabled person parking, 24 hour calls, restraining orders, sex offenders, college facility use lists, etc; and gives CPR and First Aid instructions to callers as needed. Receives emergency calls for service; and dispatches police, emergency personnel, and/or maintenance personnel; alerts/requests assistance as needed from local public safety agencies; and contacts agencies involved with major emergency operations such as the fire department, neighboring police agencies, and various state agencies that deal with emergency and disaster operations. Maintains blotter and documents all incoming calls, and unusual incidents; maintains contact with all field units; prepares reports; and issues parking permits. Checks for outstanding warrants or prior offenses on suspects. Reviews files, records, and other documents to respond to requests and conducts Internet searches upon request; maintains and updates files for the department; types police reports, dispatch incident logs, and other materials, and assigns report numbers; maintains crime statistics for Cleary ACT and monthly campus crime statistics report; and enters, updates and retrieves information on stolen property, vehicle registration, and other information from statewide computer networks. Types, files, and performs a wide variety of clerical support duties in the police department and/or other departments; operates standard office machines; answers telephone, responds to requests, delivers messages, and runs errands; creates and maintains field forms for officers; and carries out broadcasts; opens and routes incoming mail; prepares and processes time reports of temporary officers and student help; prepares and submits purchase orders and requisitions; and maintains lost and found. Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Two years of general clerical experience including one year equivalent to a Clerk II with the District.
EDUCATION: Possession of currently valid P.O.S.T. Public Safety Dispatch certificate or successful completion of the P.O.S.T. Public Safety Dispatcher's course within one year of the date of hire. NOTE: One year of college level business and clerical course work may be substituted for one year of required experience.
Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Education Requirement: 12 units are equal to six months of education; 24 units are equal to one year of education.)

- Individuals who have completed colleges or university course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts, degrees and other relevant documents. A foreign transcript evaluation is required any time foreign course work is used to meet minimum qualifications even if the foreign transcript has been accepted by a college or university in the United States.
- Graduate advising documents and grade reports will not be accepted as unofficial transcripts.
- It is the responsibility of Los Rios CCD employees to provide transcripts for the application process, if required by position.
Conditions:
Job Offer Requirements: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. The District may select additional qualified candidates should unexpected vacancies or needs occur during this recruitment/selection process.

Temporary classified positions are limited to 110 work days per fiscal year.
