The superintendent of the Lamont School District shall serve as the educational leader for the school staff in grades kindergarten through eight. As chief administrator, the superintendent shall advise the Board of Trustees in developing district policies and shall be responsible for implementing local, state, and federal administrative policies and regulations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Appropriate Administrative credential or Preliminary Administrative Credential.
Master’s in Education degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five years elementary teaching experience, and a minimum of three years school site and/or district level administrative experience is required.
Successful experience in school finance and budget management.
Successful experience working with a culturally and ethnically diverse community, whose members have diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (Spanish) desired.
Ability to work with the Board and staff to develop a strong educational program, coupled with fiscal responsibility.
Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and communicate effectively with students, teachers, staff, school board, and community.
Ability and competence in working with the Board of Trustees in accordance with established policies, and demonstrate a willingness to make recommendations with a force of conviction based upon sound research and facts.
Demonstrated ability to delegate responsibility with particular understanding of issues related to decision making in a small school district.
Demonstrated ability to manage human, fiscal, and physical resources effectively.
Human relations skills of the highest order, respect for human dignity, and the desire to meet and listen to people.
General knowledge or experience in areas such as personnel, administration, curriculum, instruction, special education, and other programs essential to a good educational system.
Knowledge of the negotiation process, with successful experience working effectively and harmoniously with all employee associations.
Ability to manage the District’s finances and resources in a responsible manner, including the seeking of new, creative sources of funding.
An understanding of the importance of building a strong instructional staff through recruitment and inservice training programs.
Experience in new school construction, modernization and other facility issues.
