Position Summary:
Serves as the Recruit Training Officer for the basic law enforcement academy.
Under the direction of the assigned administrator, plans, organizes and implements the law enforcement or corrections operation, or basic law enforcement academy of the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center.

JOB LOCATION: McClellan Center, Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center, 5146 Arnold Avenue, Room 110A, McClellan, CA 95652
This is a TEMPORARY classified position.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the Recruit Training Officer for the basic law enforcement academy.
Duties may include:
Meets and works closely with advisory groups, training managers and faculty to determine training needs within the basic law enforcement academy; serves as the Recruit Training Officer for the basic law enforcement academy; maintains liaison with certifying agencies such as the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). Serves as a role model for law enforcement trainees. Oversees day to day recruit activities and evaluates and documents recruit activities. Mentors and provides support for recruits attending the basic law enforcement academy. Assists in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of state and local law enforcement programs and courses, and assists administrators/faculty in the preparation of curriculum materials and program/course evaluation. Assists in the certifying, scheduling, arranging, coordinating and record keeping of individual class schedules; and the record keeping of individual course offerings; and assists in the preparation, validation and review of testing procedures for students. Assists in the recruitment and hiring of part-time faculty for the Center. Assists with a variety of administrative, operational, educational and clerical services for the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center. Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Four years of sworn law enforcement experience, including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity. Prior experience working within a basic academy environment desired.
EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in administration of justice, or equivalent discipline, from an accredited college or university; OR, an associate's degree in administration of justice or equivalent discipline from an accredited college or university, plus two additional years of qualifying experience.
Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Education Requirement: 12 units are equal to six months of education; 24 units are equal to one year of education.)
Special Requirements:
Meet the requirements of Government Code Section 1031 (completion of a basic academy certified by the Commission of Peace Officer Standards and Training [POST]).

Job Offer Requirements: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. The District may select additional qualified candidates should unexpected vacancies or needs occur during this recruitment/selection process.
Work Schedule:
5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday
Note: Temporary classified positions are limited to 110 work days per fiscal year.
