Must be NCLB compliant in Math through CSET exam, major or major equivalence (32 semester units) in Math.

DEFINITION:

Provides an educational program for students in accordance with IEP's. The teacher shall provide instruction and related services to individuals with a primary disability of specific learning disabilities, mild/moderate mental retardation, other health impairment, and serious emotional disturbance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide individualized and small group instruction that utilizes adopted core curriculum with emphasis on remedial instruction.
• Provide individual and small group counseling on educational and personal problems which relate to the student's total growth and development.
• Confer frequently with parents and professional staff members on each pupil's progress.
• Provide appropriate classroom environment to promote positive ppupilbehavior, attitudes and social skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful teaching experience with students who have mild to moderate disabilities.

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in a learning handicapped program including English Language Learner authorization.
