Requirements / Qualifications

An examination will be given to establish an eligibility list for the position of Office Assistant I in order to fill existing and future vacancies. This position is 4-8 hours per day, 200-252 paid days per year. The job of Office Assistant I was established for the purpose/s of providing general clerical support in a school or the District office; communicating information to staff and the public; providing complete and accurate records; and providing information and/or direction as may be requested. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: This position performs entry-level and routine clerical support or receptionist duties in a school or District office. Due to the demographics of some of our schools, hiring managers may prefer Spanish speaking candidates. Applications will be accepted until Friday, October 12, 2012 (4:45 p.m.) APPLICATION PROCEDURE: A completed application for employment must be received in Human Resources by 4:45 p.m. on the closing date. Written Merit Exam: Wednesday, October 17, 2012 (9:00 a.m.) The written Merit exam will take place at La Mesa – Spring Valley School District’s Education Service Center, 4750 Date Avenue, La Mesa, CA 91942 (Phone: 619-668-5700) unless notified otherwise. Test starts promptly at the scheduled time. Latecomers will not be admitted. Candidates will be required to present valid photo identification prior to sign-in. Report for the Merit Exam unless notified that you have not been screened in. ORAL BOARD EXAMINATION: The Oral Board/Performance-Based Examination will be given by appointment only at the Education Service Center to those candidates with the highest scores on the written examination. Following the conclusion of the Oral Board Examination, the candidates will be ranked and notified of their scores.
