DEFINITION: A position working independently under direction of the Childcare Director/Leader to perform a variety of activities. Assist in managing and directing student behavior. Assist Leader in providing a safe, pleasant, professional, recreational and educational atmosphere. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Conduct and/or assist with indoor/outdoor activities such as playground, homework, art activities, food preparation and clean-up. ? Perform generalized activities such as maintaining and organizing Club materials and preparing student work areas ? Other duties as assigned ABILITY TO: ? Work effectively with children ? Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures to be followed in recreational setting ? Communicate satisfactorily in oral and written instructions ? Understand and carry out oral and written instructions ? Maintain calm and patience in stressful situations ? Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information ? Work under specific direction ? Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships ? Organize and implement planned activities with supervision ? Operate basic office equipment ? Sit, stand, walk, lift objects of weight up to 50 lbs., push, pull, drag and grasp objects EXPERIENCE: Child care experience directing and supervising elementary school age children in group and individualized situations. EDUCATION: High school diploma required and currently enrolled in or have completed college courses in the areas of middle childhood development and elementary education and child care.
