GENERAL SUMMARY:  Supervises support staff, creates and manages systems around cleaning,  maintains school facility to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment conducive to student learning, and works with outside agencies related to these objectives.  Upholds the mission and values established by Aspire Public Schools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Hires, evaluates, and develops all facilities, campus monitoring, security, and cafeteria staff at multiple school sites.
  2. Ensures proper training and certifications for cafeteria and facilities staff.
  3. PCSD liaison; manages moves/ relocations/new school set up for multiple Central Valley school sites.
  4. Sets campus supervision schedules, ensures staff has proper staff-student discipline training; monitors students at lunch/transitions/ recess as necessary.
  5. Negotiates school contracts to ensure best price for services.
  6. Coordinates and manages night cleaning service and contractors to ensure building and grounds are well-cleaned and maintained, and a regular schedule of major cleaning is kept (e.g. polishing floors, steam cleaning carpets, etc.)
  7. Manages the quality of services completed onsite including janitorial, lunch service and construction contractors.
  8. Establishes and maintains school site safety plan .  Writes safety incident reports and follows up as necessary.
  9. Works with public regulatory entities to ensure compliance. (Eg. Fire Department, CDE, Police Department, Inspectors)
  10. Works closely with other site staff- especially in support of Office Managers and teachers.
  11. Plans and meets consistently with outside consultants and vendors (E.g. PCSD, Blackwell, K2A, Chamber of Commerce, Waste Management)
  12. Leads school wide initiatives and projects ; perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  13. Identifies and corrects any major security or safety hazards and major repair needs.
  14. Develops and maintains Mealtime systems including set up, service and cleanup of lunch.
  15. Manages facilities inventory; orders cleaning, building, and all other operational supplies for multiple school sites; manages invoices.
  16. Performs minor IT support for computers, printers, copiers etc. Escalates and coordinates IT service or site visits when as necessary. 
  17. Ensures clean classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, multipurpose room, offices and all interior rooms.
  18. Coordinates routine maintenance, including touch-up painting, replacing lights, etc.
  19. Responds to emergency cleanups during the day, such as clogged drains and spills
  20. Overseas routine grounds-keeping duties, including picking up litter, weeding, mowing the lawn.
  21. Sets up and arranges furniture for assemblies, meetings and special events.
  22. Responsible for locking and unlocking doors, windows and gates, and turning security system on/off daily.
  23. Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Knowledge of safe and efficient use of cleaning materials, chemicals, tools and equipment (Cal OSHA)
  • Current knowledge of safety requirements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, with both students and adults
  • Ability to maintain records
  • Ability and willingness to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the required duties, including ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move heavy objects on a regular basis
  • Ability to interact appropriately with children of different ages
  • Ability to supervise, train and manage adults effectively around specific goals
  • Ability to manage projects and delegate responsibilities towards the completion of multiple tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple parties to facilitate special projects.

2) Minimum educational level:

  • Some college

3) Experience required:

  • 1-3 years of building management experience preferred but not required
