The job of Speech/Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) was established for the purpose/s of assisting speech/language pathology staff in providing speech/language therapy services for pupils with communication disorders (i.e., delays in pragmatic semantics, syntax, fluency, articulation/phonology). This job reports to Director, Special Education and/or other assigned administrators MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Job related experience is required. Education: Targeted job related education that meets organization’s prerequisite requirements. Equivalency: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and six months of experience working with children in an organized setting, preferably with children with special needs. Completion of two years of higher education study OR possession of an Associate’s or higher level degree, OR pass assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics OR reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.
