Zinsmeyer Academy is a division of ChildNet Youth & Family Services, Inc, and is a Non-Public School located in Long Beach, CA.
We are currently seeking Special Education teachers for our year round program. Zinsmeyer Academy provides educational services to at risk youth in grades 4-12. Each classroom is staffed with a dedicated Teacher’s Assistant and maintains a ratio of six students to one Teacher/T.A.
DUTIES:
•Development of individualized, multi-level curriculum for learning handicapped and severely emotionally disturbed students.
• Attendance and participation in school staff meetings such as in-service training and IEP meetings for assigned caseload of students.
•Responsible for drafting written quarterly progress and discharge reports
• Maintenance of Daily Attendance, quarterly progress report, withdrawal and semester grades.
•Other duties as assigned such as grade papers, maintain a clean/healthy learning environment, supervision on field trips or breaks and transporting the students in the school van.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Current California Teaching Specialist Mild/Moderate Clear Level I Credential with enrollment in the Level II Credential program.
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
•Evidence of passing both the CBEST and CSET examination.
•Teaching experience in a high school setting, or one semester of student teaching in a high school setting.
•One year of Special education classroom experience (private or public) is preferred.
All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam. Dept. of Justice/FBI/Child Abuse Index Search clearance must be on file prior to the first day of work. To meet the insurance underwriting requirements of this agency, employees must maintain a good driving record and keep a current copy of their auto insurance on file in Human Resources.
