The Accelerated School (TAS) and Wallis Annenberg High School(WAHS)seek a Dean of Student Development to join an expanding team of professionals that are making a positive difference in the lives of TAS students and the community. The TAS Community of Schools includes W.M. Keck Early Learning Center, Accelerated Charter Elementary School, The Accelerated School and Wallis Annenberg High School.
The Dean of Student Development is responsible for implementing the school wide plan for creating a positive culture of behavior, as well as being in charge of administering discipline in accordance with the TAS/WAHS Discipline Policy. He/she will assist the principal in overseeing the safety staff, noon duties and security guards and provide support in areas of student discipline, student and staff attendance, and student activities supervision. The Dean of Student Development also participates in other assigned duties and activities in the administration, management and operation of our schools.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-Supports, upholds and works in context of the professional learning community established by the staff and principal of the school to develop, implement and maintain a school-wide plan for creating a positive culture of behavior in the school
-Provide and supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline system in accordance with the TAS/WAHS Positive Discipline Policy
-Collaborate with administrators and staff in the implementation of the school wide plan for creating a positive culture of behavior in the school
-Notify appropriate personnel and agencies immediately, and follow established procedures when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids
-Establish a professional rapport with students and with staff
-Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school
-Meet with parents regarding student discipline and behavior issues
-Ensures a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students
-Oversee after school programs ensuring quality control as it relates to organization, behavior and management
-Maintain positive, professional, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the central administration, parents, and representatives of resource agencies within the community
-Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Experience working with elementary and secondary school age children
-Bachelor’s degree required
-Administrative and supervisory experience working in a school or educational setting
-Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people
-Strong interpersonal skills, able to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community
-Bilingual preferred
Compensation:
-$50,000-$60,000/yr based on education and experience; 12-month position
