Educational Manager –K12 Los Angeles #1089 July 2010 The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for an Educational Manager, K-12 Services who will join our Western Regional Office (WRO) based out of our recently opened office in Los Angeles, CA. The WRO is part of the College Board's national Region and Account Services division. This position combines knowledge of the K-12 educational environment with a career interest in developing and maintaining long-term relationships with schools, districts and state agencies in an effort to promote educational equity, access and excellence for all students. Position Summary As an account manager, the Educational Manager develops meaningful relationships with members of the K-12 education community that will promote the College Board’s mission of educational equity, access and excellence for students of all backgrounds. Under the leadership of a Senior Director, an Educational Manager supports partnerships and accounts such as schools, districts and states primarily within the region, and supports programs and services relating to regional activities of the College Board's College Readiness unit. Key Responsibilities • Manages service delivery relationships for client accounts by a providing an overall understanding of College Board programs and services. • Provides program expertise to support the consultative sales process. • Participates in account planning and budget development. • Fosters growth and retention of accounts. • Supports regional association and membership goals including the support of governance activities related to regional councils and regional forums. • Manages delivery of workshops, seminars and conferences which may include: teacher training workshops, teacher training summer institutes, teacher training in-service days. • Identifies, monitors, and recommends solutions to regional issues concerning program articulation, implementation, and revision. • Assists with the delivery of state agency reports. Qualifications Bachelor's degree, graduate or professional degree preferred, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a managerial or professional position in the education field such as in teaching, counseling, or administrative experience at the secondary level are required. Extensive knowledge of the secondary school environment is required. Related Skills & Other Requirements: • Willingness and ability to travel extensively. • Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred. • Passion for education and a deep commitment to the College Board’s mission of promoting educational equity, access and excellence for students of all backgrounds. • Keen interest in the K-12 academic arena and the promotion of partnerships between K-12 districts and higher education institutions. • Extensive knowledge of client needs and the ability to identify and meet the needs of prospective clients. • Strong team player. • Superior communications skills. • Effective problem solving and negotiation skills. • Proficiency with MS Office applications. • Demonstrated experience in planning, budgeting and implementing programs.
