Wallis Annenberg High School (WAHS) seeks an Athletic Director to join an expanding team of professionals that are making a positive difference in the lives of the WAHS students and the community. With the support of Los Angeles Unified School District, WAHS was founded by LAUSD Teachers Kevin Sved and Johnathan Williams who share a vision that all children can achieve and that education is essential to a prosperous, fulfilling life and the regeneration of our communities. Responsibilities and Duties: -Manages the athletic program -Coordinates and participates in scheduled practices and games -Verifies athletic eligibility with LA Southern Section/CIF and the counselors/teachers at Wallis Annenberg High School -Responsible for LA Southern Section /CIF follow-up interpretation and dissemination of information -Attends meetings for LA Southern Section/CIF -Arranges and supervises transportation to and from games -Contracts game officials for athletic games -Recruits and assigns personnel to game management duties -Communicates regularly with the Assistant Principal in charge of Athletics regarding any/all needs and concerns -Establishes standards of excellence for team members, parents/guardians, and coaches in reference to sportsmanship and competition -Supervises locker rooms and practice facilities -Takes inventory and cares for uniforms and equipment -Ensures proper use of school equipment and facilities -Ensures that home games are properly staffed -Arranges/supervises transportation to and from games -Identifies and clears all volunteers (before they participate in any activities) with the Assistant Principal in charge of Athletics -Conducts bi-monthly meetings with the Athletic Booster Club -Actively participates in professional development activities without any form of additional compensation -Represents the school in a professional manner and ensures student athletes, parent/guardians, and coaches do the same -Conducts monthly meetings with the Athletic Department -Conducts observations and conferences with the coaches in the Athletic Department -Evaluates the coaches in the Athletic Department -Coordinates and organizes the Athletic Department banquets for the student athletes and their parents/guardians -Teaching credential required -Related other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee Compensation: $5,000.00 August 2010-June 2011
