The School Nurse works in partnership with LifeLong Medical Care and the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD) to create an environment that promotes healthy living, as well as responding to the needs of individual children. The credentialed school nurse primary function is to address the health conditions of special needs students as they relate to their educational requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate with students, families, teachers, administrators and other members of multi-disciplinary teams. The key responsibilities of a School Nurse include: * Health Assessments * Case Management of Health Needs * Work closely with Berkeley Public Health and other agencies regarding identification, prevention and control of communicable diseases, including any necessary student exclusions from school. * Providing confidential health advice for individual children. Credentials and Licenses: * Must hold a California School Nurse Credential or qualify to apply for one. * Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and possess a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California. * Must have a valid California Driver’s License and available personal transportation. * Valid audiometry certificate/credential and CPR training certificates are desirable.
