TIA-Guidance Aide
 

Under direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the 3599 TIA Guidance Aide assists in the management of career and academic guidance services for Child Development students, and those interested in pursuing careers in K-12 and CTE teaching.  


Examples of Duties
1. Provides advising to students seeking career and academic advice in K-12 and CTE teacher preparation.
2. Directs students to counselors, faculty or program coordinators, and schedules appointments.
3. Develops and maintains relationships with other teacher preparation entities in the San Francisco Bay Area including SFUSD, SFSU and other public and private colleges, universities and school districts.
4. Plans events, meetings and conferences for teachers and future teachers as assigned.
5. Assists with the Future Teacher Club at CCSF.
6. Assists in outreach to City College classes, through job fairs, and other venues as needed.
7. Maintains credentials program, scholarships, teaching resources and teaching job opportunity listings on-site, through the job line and on the web-site.
8. Attends project meetings, takes minutes, and prepares purchase orders.
9. Represents the Teacher Prep Center at on campus and community meetings.
10. Other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications
1. Completion of high school, supplemented by at least three years of progressively responsible in-service training preferably in paraprofessional guidance or social service;

AND

2. Six (6) to twelve (12) units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or a related field.  

Desirable Qualifications
1. Experience working with children in a licensed child care facility, K-12 classroom or other comparable setting.
2. Completion of BA degree and/or post-secondary coursework in Education, Child Development or related field.
3. Knowledge of the field of teacher preparation, the Commission on Teacher Credentialing in California and ECE-12 teacher requirements.
4. Experience working with students in a college setting.
5. Skill with standard software applications.
6. Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with students, faculty and staff, other departmental personnel and outside agencies.
