JOB DESCRIPTION Director I, Adult Education Primary Function: To plan and direct a comprehensive program of Adult Education. Directly Responsible to: Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services Immediate Subordinates: Adult Education principals and secretarial and clerical staff as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provides overall supervision and coordination of the component parts of tile District's Adult Education Program and Foothills Adult School; interprets and applies all pertinent regulations of the Education Code and the Governing Board. 2. Supervises and coordinates the work of immediate subordinates and approves deviations from established procedures and methods used in the performance of their duties. 3. Prepares and submits the budget for the Adult Education programs and exercises budgetary control over the approved budget. 4. Analyzes and reviews adult school facilities and makes recommendations for additions, new construction, remodeling, and space rentals. 5. Provides leadership in the evaluation of the Adult Education program and enlists the support of his/her subordinates in an effort to continually improve the quality of the program. 6. Directs the maintenance of necessary records to meet requirements for reports to the Governing Board, State Department of Education, agencies of the Federal Government, and other agencies as required. 7. Acts as the principal spokes person for Adult Education in the community and enlists community support and appreciation for the program. 8. Directs the employment, processing, credentialing, and payroll timekeeping for adult school teachers. 9. Directs the central pupil cumulative record-keeping for graduates and nongraduates. 10. Prepares applications for state and federal funding tosupportAdultlVocational Education programs, and administer approved projects under guidelines established by the funding agency.
