ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL -- American Martyrs Catholic School is accepting applications for the position of school principal beginning with the 2009-2010 school year. American Martyrs School is a double-classroom school located a few short blocks from the ocean in the lovely community of Manhattan Beach. With recently completed new and renovated facilities, along with incredible parental involvement and parish support, the school provides high quality Catholic education to more than 620 students in grades pre-K-8. The principal administers the entire school program, develops long term plans and goals, directs approximately 60 faculty and staff and reports directly to the Pastor, Msgr. John Barry. The successful candidate will: Actively practice and understand the Catholic faith Exhibit high moral standards with a reputation for integrity and vision Understand and be dedicated to the ministry of Catholic education Recognize and value the unique role of the Catholic elementary school within the Parish community Hold a California Teaching Credential (Clear) or one from a state with an interstate agreement (or be eligible for California certification) and have teaching experience of at least two years in elementary school Demonstrate proven administrative experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and teacher supervision with an administrative credential and/or master’s degree strongly preferred Excellent leadership and communication skills and enthusiasm for maintaining a top religious and fully accredited academic program are a must.
