Job Summary
Job Summary
The Program Specialist for Special Education must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in the field of special education. The successful candidate’s initial work will be to lead a district/community continuous improvement initiative to better serve students, families, staff, and community partners. This work will include identifying needs, developing written policies and procedures based on input from families, staff, and community partners, working with human resources and special education providers to develop district staffing plans, by both program and IEP, creating a professional development plan for all special education department employees, and working with staff to identify curriculum needs throughout all special education programs. The Program Specialist will also work closely with staff on other initiatives, including but not limited to, multi tiered systems of support, behavior intervention, accommodating/modifying student work, supporting student mental health, etc.
