Job Summary

Job Summary

The Academic Counselor provides academic, career, and personal counseling services to prospective and current students. Duties include assisting with enrollment, orientation, registration, program selection, and academic advising; providing information regarding educational, training, career, and dual enrollment; supporting student outreach and career and resource fair activities; connecting students with school and community resources; and promoting successful transition to post-secondary education and employment.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) – School Counseling Credential; • Two (2) years of experience working with students in an alternative education setting; • Two (2) years providing academic, vocational, employment, and/or related services to students; • Possession of a valid California driver’s license and use of personal transportation is required. (SBCSS vehicle not provided. A copy is not required to be submitted in application packet – see * below).
