Work Year: 11 months; 198 duty days (certificated work year) + up to 40 additional duty days during the summer at the certificated extended duty hourly rate; 40 hours/week. Location: OC Probations Juvenile Hall The Vocational Counselor (OC Probation Programs) is responsible for supporting Career Technical Education (CTE) goals, initiatives, pathways, and programs of the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (NOCROP). The Vocational Counselor develops and implements a research and standards-based counseling program that assists youth in custody in developing and achieving educational, transition, career, and employment goals. Utilizing technical training and job placement expertise, the Vocational Counselor connects students with employment and workforce training opportunities aligned with their interests and abilities, facilitates career readiness activities and workshops, cultivates employer and community partnerships, and collaborates with OC Probation personnel and other stakeholders to support successful student outcomes. The Vocational Counselor ensures effective program implementation and accountability for program goals, objectives, and deliverables.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING: REQUIRED: *A valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential or equivalent authorizing counseling service *A Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in career development, counseling, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, rehabilitation counseling, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or social work *Successful completion of OC Probation background clearance (1-3 month timeframe) RECOMMENDED: A Master's (MA/MS) degree in career development, counseling, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, rehabilitation counseling, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or social work is preferred LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: A valid California Class C Driver’s License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required.
