JOIN OUR TRANSPORTATION TEAM Help students begin and end each school day with safe, reliable, and respectful transportation. At Linden Oaks, School Van Drivers do more than operate a vehicle. You will be the lead transportation staff member on your assigned van, safely transporting students to and from school and program activities while creating a calm, structured, and welcoming environment throughout each route. This role is ideal for a dependable, safety-minded driver who can stay alert, make sound decisions, and work closely with transportation aides, students, families, and school staff. Your consistency and professionalism will help students access the education and support they need each day. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Safely transport students along assigned routes and to program-related activities while following all traffic laws and Linden Oaks safety procedures. • Serve as the lead staff member on the vehicle and provide clear direction and support to transportation aides. • Review daily route assignments, student rosters, attendance changes, and required documentation before departure. • Maintain active awareness of student needs, behavior, road conditions, and vehicle safety throughout each route. • Coordinate safe student pick-up, transport, and drop-off and communicate route changes, absences, delays, or concerns promptly. • Support student de-escalation with transportation aides and respond appropriately to emergencies using established safety and crisis procedures. • Conduct required pre-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate mileage, inspection, and vehicle logs. • Keep the assigned vehicle clean and fueled and report maintenance needs, damage, safety concerns, or incidents promptly. • Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including mobility support when appropriate. • Represent Linden Oaks professionally and maintain respectful interactions with students, families, staff and community members.

Requirements / Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of driving experience. • A valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record that meets Linden Oaks' insurability requirements. • Current First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it. • The ability to meet all applicable driver requirements, including annual physical examinations and random drug testing under SB 88. • Strong situational awareness, sound judgment, reliability, communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and attentive throughout each route. • Experience transporting individuals or supporting students or people with disabilities is preferred.

The position requires extended alertness; regular sitting, standing, and walking; occasional bending and stooping; lifting up to 25 pounds; and assisting students as they enter and exit the vehicle, including students who use mobility devices. Drivers must be prepared to respond to emergencies and may support students experiencing challenging behaviors.
