Job Summary

The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. There is currently ONE position open in the Nutrition Services Department. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under the direction of the Director of Nutrition Services, coordinates activities of the production and school site personnel; coordinates and participates in the free and reduced application process; provides technical assistance and serves as a liaison between the software vendor and the Nutrition Services Department for Point of Sale at school sites and offices; and provides inservice education to department personnel.

Requirements / Qualifications

Training and Experience The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate; a minimum of two years of college-level education in the nutrition field or in institutional food services, or any combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Related work experience in an educational environment is highly desirable. Knowledge of Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Arithmetic, filing, and recordkeeping. Data entry and food service computer software programs. Ability to Learn and apply rules, regulations, and requirements of Institutional food services. Learn and apply Federal, State and local laws and regulations governing Child Nutrition Programs. Learn and apply rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements of the National School Lunch Program. Analyze food service operations and make recommendations. Assure compliance with various rules, regulations, requirements, and restrictions related to health, safety, and sanitation in a school food service program. Plan, coordinate and conduct training programs related to School Food Services. Use advanced computer applications. Communicate effectively and fluently, orally and in writing. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Work independently with a minimum of supervision. Travel to assigned training sites. License Food Safety Managers Certificate, or approved equivalent (must be obtained within 60 days from start of work) A valid California driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and copy of current driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles must be provided. Employees must have reliable transportation to and from field assignments.
