Sonora is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills within driving distance of Yosemite National Park. Tuolumne County is rich in local history and there are events throughout the year that highlight our history and culture. There are year-round outdoor recreation activities such as camping, whitewater rafting, hiking, fishing, boating, skiing, and ice skating. Sonora Elementary School strives to build respect and appreciation for the natural world and our place in it. With a strong emphasis in the arts, science and technology, Sonora Elementary School has served as a model to schools across our region.
