Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Transportation Director or state-certified instructor, assists in behind the wheel training as well as required pre-service (prior to employment) and inservice (after employment) training to Bus Drivers pursuant to Education Code Section 40084.5

Requirements / Qualifications

1) CA Class A or B license with PS endorsement. 2) One year of experience as RJUHSD school bus driver. 3) A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent. 4) A driving record without chargeable accident within the past 3 years. 5) Successful completion of all training in the latest edition of the instructor's Behind the Wheel Training guide for California's Bus Driver Training course given by, and in the presence of, a state-certified instructor of the appropriate class. This training will be provided by the Transportation Department for selected applicants. 6) Successful completion of a written assessment test on current laws, regulations, and policies and a driving test including behind the wheel performance test on all phases of behind the wheel and vehicle inspection training in the presence of a state certified instructor of the appropriate class. This test will be administered for selected applicants only after the training requirements in item #5 are completed. Please see job description for complete details.

This is an entry-level position and is on call as needed. RJUHSD will provide training for selected applicants to obtain their valid Designated Behind the Wheel certificate from the California Department of Education. All internal applicants must have at least one (1) year of RJUHSD Bus Driver experience, with zero (0) at-fault bus accidents within the last three (3) years. Must pass the Delegate Behind the Wheel Trainer test with the California Department of Education (CDE) within six (6) months of hire.
