About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Coordinator – Multilingual Learners or designee, works collaboratively with District staff, administrators, certificated and classified staff to support Newcomers and English Language Learners to access educational achievement. The assistant will serve an essential connection between school, district and local resources. May receive general or work direction from an administrator or certificated personnel.

Unit: CSEA Classification Hours / Work Year: 7 Hours / 10 Months (180 Days – School days Only) CSEA Salary (Range 128): Step A $29.58, Step B $31.08, Step C $32.65, Step D $34.30, Step E $36.04, Step F $37.86 Promotional /Open: The promotional group as well as the general public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying eligibles. APPLICATION DEADLINE – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2026, by 4:30 PM Application, answers to supplemental questions and resume are required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or equivalent; experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA) FEDERAL REQUIREMENT: Degree or completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university or District assessment test/county certificate showing compliance with ESSA. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid First Aid and CPR certification. Bi-Literate Certificate preferred. Annual ELPAC Certification.
SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience. A written exam (weighted 40% of your score) and an oral panel interview (weighted 60% of your score) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores. Required to be submitted with your application:
