Job Summary
Under the direction of assigned leadership, the Teacher, Court/Community Schools, is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing a standards-based instructional program that meets the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of students enrolled in Court/Community Schools. The teacher collaborates with support staff and community partners to promote student engagement, learning, and personal growth in a supportive and structured educational environment.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university Appropriate California Credential CLAD/BCLAD Credential Experience with at-risk youth and/or alternative schooling Ability to interact with and maintain cooperative relationships with all levels of staff and the public Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both orally and in writing

Experience working with at-promise youth and/or in alternative education settings, including court, community, or independent study programs
Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish
Independent Study Caseload:
In addition to providing specialized academic instruction and case management services to students with disabilities, the teacher will maintain an assigned general education Independent Study caseload. Responsibilities may include developing and assigning standards-aligned coursework, conducting regularly scheduled student-teacher meetings, monitoring academic progress and engagement, evaluating completed work, maintaining required Independent Study documentation, and supporting students toward completion of graduation and/or program requirements.
Itinerant Assignment/Travel:
This is an itinerant assignment that may serve multiple Alternative Education programs, school sites, and locations. The employee may be required to travel between MCOE sites and other designated instructional locations within Monterey County to provide instruction, case management, student support, consultation, and other assigned services. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel as required by the assignment are necessary.
