BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director, Technology and working with the District Technology Support Technicians and school staff, prioritize, schedule, track, document and perform technical services at school sites including end-user support, desktop/device support, documentation, system administration, imaging, e-mail, and device configuration and deployment. Troubleshoot Apple and Microsoft computer and software problems, mobile devices and perform basic network administration and management tasks as directed by the District Technology Support Technician and/or Network Engineer. Work with the District Technology Support Technician to assure all technologies integrate effectively with local and wide area networks. Provide support and maintenance to a wide range of educational technology tools and activities. Support network and technology systems through training, consultation, and service coordination.

Requirements / Qualifications

The District is accepting applications for employment as a Site Support Technician. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in computer science, information systems, or related field and two years experience in computer and end-user support; server and workstation installation, configuration, and management; technical support in decentralized and diverse computing environment; basic network administration; and recent experience in network and computer support related to current releases of Microsoft, Google, and Apple software. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license. A+, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications are strongly preferred. SELECTION PROCEDURE: The process will begin with the competitive screening of qualified applicants. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a written, oral, and/or practical examination process. Successful candidates will be ranked on an eligibility list according to the examination score. Final selection will then be made in accordance with Merit System rules from the eligibility list that is good for 6 months once it is established. Fingerprinting and criminal record checks will be done on all prospective employees.

The District offers Medical Care, Dental Care, and Vision Care plan for employee; Life Insurance coverage for employee only; Long Term Disability coverage; sick leave; Classified employees are required to join the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and as such contribute up to 8% of their monthly salary to PERS on a pre-tax basis. ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION Employment with the Pajaro Valley Unified School District is not complete or official until applicants meet all pre-employment requirements, including Board of Trustee approval. As part of the selection process, all new employees are required to provide the following information: new employees must be fingerprinted (paid by the District); TB test (paid by the employee); social security card; picture identification; and authorization to work (I-9). PAY DAYS: Permanent employees are paid on the last working day of each month. PROBATION AND SALARY POLICY: Classified positions have a one hundred and thirty days (130) probationary period. New employees typically start on the first step. Additional step increases occur yearly thereafter until the sixth salary step is achieved. Employees who work less than twelve (12) months per year and/or eight (8) hours per day should calculate their pay rate on an hourly basis and/or refer to hourly rates on the Classified Salary schedule.
