Job Summary
Under the direction and supervision of assigned high school administrator(s), the Secretary provides a wide variety of responsible secretarial and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the school and assigned programs. The Secretary also communicates with and provides information and assistance to students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, vendors and the public.

Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and a minimum of two years of responsible secretarial experience. Secretarial experience in a school setting is desirable.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating schedules, meetings, records, correspondence, testing programs, and office procedures; maintaining confidential student and personnel information; collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data and preparing reports; processing purchase orders, invoices, reimbursements, and other financial documentation; monitoring assigned budgets; and supporting student records, academic programs, schoolwide assessments, purchasing, budgeting, and other administrative functions as assigned. The position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy; the ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and manage multiple programs and projects in a fast-paced environment; and proficiency with technology, Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Gmail, and Forms), spreadsheets and data-management tools, and other standard office applications and systems.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of: functions and activities of a school office environment; computer equipment and related software applications, including Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Gmail, Forms); modern office practices, procedures and equipment; office management techniques; telephone techniques and etiquette; financial and statistical record-keeping techniques; operation of office equipment; policies and objectives of assigned program and activities; basic research methods; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: operate a computer and related software, including Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.); perform a variety of secretarial support services, including scheduling appointments and maintenance of calendars for multiple administrators; provide information and assistance to students, parents, faculty, administrators, contractors and the public; type at 60 words net per minute from clear copy; work confidentially with discretion; compose correspondence independently or from oral instructions; perform duties effectively with demands on time and constant interruptions; read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; work independently with little direction; meet schedules and timelines; maintain records and prepare reports.
