THE POSITION The Coordinator I, Community Schools -Transformation Zones, shall provide administrative support to the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s Community Schools Initiative. The position will coordinate transformation zone partnerships and services in one or more of the Community Schools Transformation Zones throughout the County. Community Schools Transformation Zones are specialized partnerships between LACOE, collaborating LEAs, municipalities, county departments and community-based organizations. LEAs work with LACOE to identify CCSPP schools within their district who will operate as transformation zone sites. The Coordinator will work with district and site staff to develop and execute plans that will use the CA Community Schools Framework processes to address a significant long-standing barrier that has contributed to racial disparities in educational outcomes for generations. The Coordinator will lead partnership coordination and implementation of equity driven community schools strategies to address the community identified barrier(s). One of the primary barriers addressed in transformation zones is chronic absenteeism. Other barriers to be addressed will be elevated by participating districts and may include Racially Just and Restorative School Climates, Integrated Student Supports and or Family Engagement and Empowerment etc. The Coordinator will also assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring community schools initiatives with local interest holders.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Experience: • Five years of employment in the field of teaching, social work or school counseling working with school-age children and/or families in underserved communities. • Two years or more years of experience in an educational leadership position closing opportunity gaps for specialized student populations with measurable impact. Education: A Master’s degree in Education or a related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach credential with document number on it.) Must possess and maintain the following credentials: • A valid California Pupil Services Credential is required • A valid Child Welfare and Attendance authorization (CWA) is also strongly preferred. OR • A valid K-12 Teaching Credential (Single Subject or Multiple Subject) AND a valid California Administrative Services Credential or Certificate of Eligibility is required.
