TEACHER

Objective and Job Summary:

The Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, joyful, and academically rigorous classroom where all students can grow and succeed. Teachers at Scholarship Prep deliver high-quality instruction, build strong relationships with students and families, and foster classrooms rooted in high expectations, consistency, and care. Teachers implement standards-aligned curriculum, use data to drive instruction, and support the academic, social-emotional, and character development of every student. This role works collaboratively with colleagues, families, and school leaders to ensure students experience a university-inspired, trauma-informed learning environment where every moment matters. This position reports directly to the Principal.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional Planning & Academic Excellence

1. Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that meet the diverse needs of students.
2. Differentiate instruction using a variety of instructional strategies and supports.
3. Maintain high expectations for student learning, participation, and achievement.
4. Support the development of students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic habits.

Classroom Culture & Student Support

1. Create a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
2. Implement effective classroom management systems that maximize learning time.
3. Facilitate daily Morning Meetings and community-building routines that strengthen belonging, connection, and student voice.
4. Build strong relationships with students rooted in consistency, respect, and care.
5. Support students’ social-emotional growth and model SP’s values in daily interactions.
6. Establish classroom routines and expectations that promote safety, accountability, and engagement.

Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction

1. Develop and administer formative and summative assessments.
2. Analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
3. Provide timely feedback and interventions to support student growth.
4. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and required documentation.

Family & Community Partnerships

1. Build positive and collaborative relationships with families.
2. Communicate regularly regarding student progress, needs, and celebrations.
3. Partner with families to support student success and engagement.
4. Contribute positively to the broader school community.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

1. Collaborate professionally with grade-level teams, support staff, and school leaders.
2. Participate actively in professional development, coaching, and collaborative planning.
3. Reflect on instructional practices and implement feedback to improve effectiveness.
4. Contribute to a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Organizational Responsibilities

1. Follow all school policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
2. Support school events, supervision duties, and campus-wide initiatives as assigned.
3. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times.
4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Valid California Teaching Credential required.
2. English Learner Authorization (CLAD/EL Authorization) required.
3. Bachelor’s degree required.
4. Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
5. Strong instructional, classroom management, and relationship-building skills.
6. Commitment to Scholarship Prep’s mission, values, and trauma-informed practices.
7. Ability to collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced school environment.

Physical Abilities:

Frequent sitting, standing, or walking much of the time with some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and climbing stairs. Frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment:

This position works in a variety of settings including indoor, outdoor work environments. May experience seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions well as odors, dust, moderate noise level.
