Under the direction of the Expanded Learning (ELOP) Coordinator or designee, plans, develops, coordinates, and oversees the District’s competitive and performance-based Expanded Learning programs, including athletics, dance, robotics, academic competitions, performing arts, and other enrichment opportunities. This position will work on a flexible schedule based upon program needs, including evenings and weekends. This is a specially funded position, dependent upon funding for continuance. Schedule: 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.* *Flexible schedule depending on the program's needs
Job Description / Essential Elements:

- Plans, develops, administers, implements, and evaluates District-wide competitive and performance-based Expanded Learning programs, including athletics and other enrichment activities.
- Develops and implements program procedures, schedules, expectations, and operational practices consistent with District policies, applicable requirements, and program goals.
- Supervises, directs, trains, and evaluates assigned coaches, instructors, staff, and volunteers; participates in the recruitment, interview, selection, and onboarding process.
- Administers and oversees the District's Expanded Learning athletic programs and performs Athletic Director responsibilities as assigned, including coordination of athletic seasons, leagues, practices, games, tournaments, officials, facilities, and related activities.
- Plans and coordinates competitions, tournaments, performances, showcases, clinics, camps, and special events, including transportation, facilities, registrations, equipment, staffing, and other logistical needs.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with District policies, safety requirements, staff certifications and training, student participation requirements, Expanded Learning requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Develops and monitors program budgets and expenditures; coordinates the purchase, inventory, distribution, maintenance, and replacement of uniforms, equipment, supplies, and other program resources.
- Monitors student participation, program effectiveness, safety, and outcomes; identifies program needs and implements or recommends improvements.
- Collaborates with District and site administrators, the Expanded Learning Programs Manager, staff, families, and community partners to coordinate programs and address operational, student, staffing, facility, and safety needs.
- Develops and maintains partnerships with community organizations, leagues, businesses, colleges, universities, and other organizations that support competitive and performance-based opportunities.
- Maintains required program records, schedules, rosters, reports, registrations, certifications, inventories, and participation data.
- Communicates program information, schedules, expectations, and requirements to students, families, employees, administrators, and community partners.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications & Abilities: • Bachelor's degree in education, recreation, sports management, youth development, business administration, kinesiology, or a related field. • Progressively responsible experience in a related field may serve in lieu of the formal education requirement. • Must meet District qualification requirements to provide student instruction. • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in youth programs, athletics, expanded learning, recreation, enrichment programs, competitive activities, or a related field. • Prior leadership or staff management experience. • Experience coordinating athletic programs, competitions, performances, events, or other student activities is desirable. • Ability to plan, organize, administer, and evaluate multiple programs and activities. • Ability to supervise, train, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, coaches, instructors, and volunteers. • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions regarding program operations within established District policies and program requirements. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, administrators, community partners, and the public. • Effective leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required by program needs. • Valid California Driver's License. • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification and Concussion Training, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
