Griffin Technology Academies (GTA Schools) is a network of 4 charter schools in Vallejo, California, that focuses on providing students with a high-quality education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. The first GTA charter, Mare Island Technology Academy Middle and High Schools, was founded in 2001, later adding Griffin Academy Middle and High Schools in 2018. GTA Schools serve students in grades 6-12. Griffin Technology Academies offer a variety of programs and services designed to support students in achieving academic success. These include: small class sizes, personalized instruction, extracurricular activities, and enrichment opportunities like burgeoning athletic programs, before and after school care programs, early college (dual enrollment, articulation, concurrent enrollment), AVID, and CTE courses. The schools also provide students with access to technology resources, including laptops and tablets. Students in high school also have opportunities for community service, internships, and career exploration experiences coordinated through GTA’s Work-Based Learning (WBL) program. Job Summary

The Chief Community Schools Officer provides executive leadership for GTA’s organization-wide Community Schools strategy, planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The Chief establishes overall direction and accountability across the four Community Schools pillars and works through school leaders, directors, and program leads responsible for developing and implementing strategies within their respective areas. The Chief ensures Community Schools efforts are coordinated across GTA, aligned with identified student, family, and community needs, and implemented in accordance with approved plans and grant requirements. The position also provides executive oversight of assigned departments and programs, including family and community engagement, community partnerships, student recruitment and engagement, Work-Based and Expanded Learning, Athletics, communications/community outreach, and community resource development.
