DEFINTION:
Under direction, to perform and semi-skilled maintenance and repair functions and activities in one or more maintenance trade areas; and to do other related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
• Inspect, measure, fit, and secures glass in window and door openings
• Cut or secure pre-cut glass to replace broken window and door openings
• Repair or replace window and door structures damaged beyond repair
• Measure, drill and install window and door locks and closures
• Adjust door closures for proper operation
• Measure, cut, fit and rescreen window and door screens
• May perform alteration, repair and maintenance of various wood structures, utilizing hand tools and woodworking equipment
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of wood, metal, stucco, plaster, brick, and cement surfaces
• Applies paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, and other protective and decorative finishes
• May assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment
• May assist in performing a variety of functions pertaining to the installation, maintenance and repair of air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems
• Perform a variety of plumbing functions, including repair and replacement of pipes, valves, fitting and other fixtures pertaining to water and gas systems
• Install, maintain, adjust and repair toilet and shower fixtures, sinks, garbage disposals and kitchen appliances
• Repair, maintain and unclog waste disposal lines
• Plan, organize, and lay out assigned tasks
• Estimate material and labor costs
• Maintain various record, including preventative maintenance records
• Coordinate and direct the work of others
• Drives a service vehicle to and from work sites
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
• material, equipment, procedures, and tools used in performing skilled level construction, maintenance and repair tasks
• Building code requirements, policies, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to school district facility and equipment, construction, maintenance and repair
• Safe working methods and procedures
Ability to:
• Skillfully perform construction, maintenance and repair tasks at the skilled level in one or more of the maintenance trade areas
• Plan, organize and lay out constructions, maintenance and repair functions
• Accurately estimate labor and material costs
• Work from diagrams, blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and schematics
• Maintain simple records and prepare complete and concise reports
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Requirements / Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required
