Temporary School Custodian Position Title: Temporary School Custodian FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt Reports to: Interim Principal Position Summary The Temporary School Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for daily cleaning, basic maintenance, and ensuring that all areas of the campus are prepared for learning and school activities. This position is essential to creating a healthy, safe, and positive learning environment. The Temporary School Custodian directly supports student well-being, school operations, and the overall campus experience Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, and common areas.Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.Perform minor repairs (light bulbs, loose fixtures, small maintenance issues).Monitor building safety by checking doors, windows, alarms, and reporting hazards.Set up and break down rooms for meetings, assemblies, and school events.Empty trash, manage recycling, and ensure proper waste disposal.Restock cleaning and restroom supplies.Respond promptly to spills, leaks, or urgent maintenance needs.Assist with maintaining outdoor areas such as walkways, entrances, and playgrounds.Collaborate with staff to support daily school operations..

Respond promptly to spills, leaks, or urgent maintenance needs.Assist with maintaining outdoor areas such as walkways, entrances, and playgrounds.Collaborate with staff to support daily school operations. Qualifications Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods.Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong communication and problem-solving skills Work Schedule 8 am- 4 p.m., depending on school needs.Total of 8 weeks or until the need is over.May include early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends for events.
