Job Summary
5.5 Hours Per Day; Start Date is Upon Hire Under direction of the Food Service Supervisor and the Cook, assists in the operation of a school cafeteria, including planning, receiving, and inventory control. Under supervision, is responsible for assisting the Cook in preparing, cooking and serving a variety of food to a large number of persons and in cleaning up the cafeteria and kitchen after meals. Keeps accurate count of meals and ensures a balanced meal is served to the students. Transports meals to district school sites. Fills in for the Cook when needed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: • Must have or be willing to obtain a California Food Handlers Card • Must have current CPR/First Aid/AED certification at time of hire or immediately upon hire • A valid Driver’s License • At least two years of experience in a school’s food service program or similar work is desired • Knowledge of modern kitchen equipment, storing food, modern sanitation requirements and feeding large groups is ideal • Ability to communicate orally and in writing • Ability to exercise care and consideration in observing sanitation requirements; ability to plan menus, follow recipes to prepare tasty food, and serve it in an appealing manner • Ability to judge the quantity required and prepare it with a minimum of waste
