Exciting Opportunity: Science Teacher (Long Term Sub: Feb ‘27 - May ‘27) Holy Names High School 2026–2027 School Year Holy Names High School is seeking a long-term substitute science teacher from Feb 1st through May 28th of 2027. Holy Names High School is a small, all-girls Catholic high school located in Oakland’s Upper Rockridge neighborhood, serving a diverse student population from across Oakland and the East Bay. At Holy Names, we value the development of the whole student: intellectually, spiritually, socially, and emotionally—and we are committed to meeting students where they are and creating a supportive learning environment that fosters curiosity, self-advocacy, and a strong sense of belonging. Physics Position in ‘27-’28: HNHS anticipates a potential opening for a Physics teaching position for the 27-28 school year. Applicants with interest in teaching Physics are especially encouraged to apply. Courses and Schedule: The courses are: Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and AP Biology. Unless otherwise noted (Assembly schedule, etc) Classes meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the following hours: Monday: 11:15 a.m.–3:05 p.m. Wednesday: 8:30 a.m.–3:35 p.m. Friday: 8:30 a.m.–1:45 p.m. Job Responsibilities: Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in science Teach to a variety of learning styles and provide differentiated instruction Foster student engagement through hands-on labs, project-based learning, and real-world applications Assess, record, and communicate student progress through timely feedback and grading Be available to support students during office hours before and after school Maintain an organized, safe, and vibrant classroom and laboratory environment Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school stakeholders Participate in faculty meetings, department collaboration, and professional development Utilize restorative practices to build classroom community and support student relationships Contribute
