Richmond College Prep is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Instructional Aide to support students’ academic growth and positive behavior while contributing to a safe, respectful, and joyful school culture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional and Classroom Support Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom routines, systems, and lessons Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support Assist with academic interventions, lesson reinforcement, enrichment, and differentiated instruction under the guidance of the classroom teacher Help organize classroom materials and support the use of instructional technology Reinforce classroom routines, schoolwide expectations, and positive student behavior Support Homework Center and help students develop effective study habits STUDENT SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: Lead student line-up procedures and transitions to and from classrooms, ensuring safety and adherence to school values Supervise students during recess, lunch, transitions, and other school activities Assist students with conflict resolution and restorative practices Help maintain a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to support student success QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma required; college coursework preferred Experience working with children in a school, youth program, or childcare setting preferred Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to support student learning and behavior in a positive and consistent manner Commitment to educational equity and serving a diverse student population PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively supervise students throughout the school day Ability to lift up to 25 pounds COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Salary and benefits are based on experience and qualifications.

Richmond College Prep Teaching Assistant Program is an excellent transition program for recently credentialed multiple-subject teachers, who need experience to link the classroom with reality. This past year RCP hired two teachers who particpated in our Teaching Assistant Program.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Teacher’s Aide

Qualifications:

Teacher Aide: responsible for assisting a classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the children. This person shall be at least 18 years of age and in the process of becoming professionally prepared to supervise young children. In addition, he/she must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children and employees, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s mission statement (please see above). He/she shall be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:

1. Assisting in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.

2. Assisting in planning and preparing the classroom, set up and preparation of the materials and supplies needed.

3. Supervising the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.

4. Helping with general housekeeping and lunch duties.

5. Maintaining professional attitude and loyalty to the school.

6. Treating all children with dignity and respect.

7. Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.

8. Participating in professional workshops that work for the improvement of education.

9. Maintaining confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.

10. Supervising outside playground activities.

11. Helping with the operations of audio/visual aids (projectors, etc.)

12. Following directions given by the teacher or immediate supervisor.

13. Supervising homework hour.

14. Assisting the teacher in any other appropriate ways.

15. Shall complete appropriate training such as early childhood classes at Contra Costa College.

16. Maintain school’s sugar-free policy.
