Job Summary
A PVUSD Transportation and School Support staff member performs duties related to serving as a van or passenger vehicle driver and support staff to meet the transportation and staff support needs for the school. They may also drive school buses if holding proper certification. The Transportation and School Support staff may transport students in school vehicles on scheduled routes and/or special excursions; enforce rules, regulations, and laws to maintain safety during transport; ensure school vehicles are in a safe operating condition; and supervise the conduct and safety of students during transport. The Transportation and School Support staff may also pick up/drop off food and other materials and supplies to/from other schools or businesses using school vehicles during the course of their regular duties. If they use their own vehicle, they will be compensated for mileage. They will also need to transport students as directed by the Superintendent (or their designee) and will comply with all requirements of SB88. In this position, the candidate may also assist with student supervision, school safety oversight, student support, clerical duties, and perform other work as required.

• Must be eighteen (18) years or older • High school diploma or equivalent - preferable: possession of an AA/AS degree, or 48 units • Possess and maintain a valid California Driver's license and evidence of insurability (plus previous safe driving record) • If serving as a backup bus driver – must be fully certified as School Bus Driver and in possession of a safe driving record that is in compliance with the restrictions set forth by California Vehicle Code (School Bus Drivers may be hired as temporary substitute employees to gain experience previous to being considered for probationary route assignment) • Possess a current CPR and First Aid Certificate (or obtain within 3 months of employment) • Must obtain a Cleared Criminal fingerprint background check through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) • Must have a cleared TB Test or TB Risk Assessment (Test may be no older than the last sixty (60) days) • Other skills/permits/performance tests may be required depending on the assignment - these may include but are not limited to: First Aid/CPR, writing, reading, math, excel, and/or other job-based skill/competence assessments. Must read and write at a sufficient level to successfully perform the required recordkeeping and duties
