DEFINITION: Under the supervision of a credentialed Speech-Language Specialist, provides direct speech therapy services to identified students related to articulation and phonology language processing, hearing, and alternative and augmentative communication; performs a variety of duties in support of student in accordance with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals; performs a variety of duties in support of student case management services; maintain records and documentation on students; and performs related duties as assigned. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS A Speech-Language Pathology Assistant participates, collaborates, and provides speech therapy services for special needs students to improve their academic performance. The classification specification does not describe all duties performed by all incumbents within the class. This summary provides examples of typical tasks performed in this classification. LICENSE REQUIRED: Some positions may require possession of a valid and appropriate California driver's license: Must maintain current Speech and Language Pathology registration with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology throughout employment in this position.
