The free, short application for the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) Teacher Residency at Alder GSE opens September 1st! The application deadline for Priority Round is October 9, 2026 and deadline for Round 1 is November 6th. This Fall, SMCOE is recruiting a cohort of teacher residents for the SMCOE Teacher Residency. This is an innovative and affordable pathway to a full-time teaching career in our community. Residents earn their Master’s Degree and Teaching Credential in just one year through the Alder Graduate School of Education, while joining a supportive, mentor-based program with an emphasis on social justice and equity. After the year of residency, graduates receive priority hiring as SMCOE teachers. TUITION ~$23,970 tuition for class of 2026-2027 (final tuition set in the Fall for class of 2028) BENEFITS $41,250 stipend (Residents are not employees of the school) $10,000 Golden State Grant (via either the state or Alder) Additional funding for SPED candidates may be available Up to $5,600 in state/ federal grants Alder Tuition Scholarship of up to $10,000 Up to $20,500 in federal loans Priority hiring for a full-time position at SMCOE KEY ADMISSIONS DATES: Priority Application Deadline: October 9th, 2026 Fall Deadline: November 6th, 2026 Winter Deadline: February 5th, 2026 Spring Deadline: March 19th, 2026 *We will notify you if invited to the interview, 1-2 weeks after the deadline
