The free, short application for the Vallejo Unified School District Teacher Residency at Alder GSE is now open (September 1, 2026)! The application deadline is October 9, 2026.
Vallejo Unified School District is now recruiting a new cohort for the Vallejo Unified School District–Alder GSE Teacher Residency Program. This innovative and affordable pathway offers aspiring educators a direct route to becoming a full-time teacher in our community.In just one year, residents earn both a Master’s Degree and a Teaching Credential while gaining hands-on experience in the classroom. The program combines rigorous coursework led by Alder GSE faculty with a mentorship-based, co-teaching model in the TK12 classroom to develop highly effective educators.
Upon completion of the residency, graduates receive priority consideration for full-time teaching positions within Vallejo Unified School District.
TUITION
~$23,290 tuition (final tuition set in Sept. 2026 for the Class of 2027)
BENEFITS
$32,000 stipend (Residents are not employees of the school)
$10,000 Golden State Teacher Grant (via either the state or Alder)
Additional funding for SPED candidates may be available
Up to $5,600 in federal grants
Alder Tuition Scholarship of up to $10,000
Up to $20,500 in federal loans
Priority hiring consideration for a full-time position

-Bachelor’s degree completed by the end of June 2027
-A grade point average (GPA) of 2.65 preferred; under 2.65 GPA should still apply
-Eligible to work in the United States: DACA, permanent residency, or U.S. citizen
