Job Summary

Lassen Union High School District is seeking currently licensed and certified school bus drivers to assist with the District's immediate transportation needs. Applicants must currently possess all licenses, certificates, and medical clearances required by the State of California to operate a school bus, including: Valid California Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements Valid California Special Driver Certificate – School Bus Current medical certification as required for the assignment Current First Aid certification, if required Any other licenses, certificates, or endorsements required to operate a California school bus This recruitment is intended for applicants who are currently appropriately licensed and certified to operate a California school bus. Assignments may include regular or substitute bus routes and other student transportation needs based upon District needs and driver availability. Schedule and hours may vary.

Must possess a valid california Class B Driver's license with a passenger endorsement, School Bus Driver's Certificate; valid Medical Certificate Form DL 51-A; and Red cross First Aid/CPR Certificate or comparable; or be eligible for a bus operator's permit by the California Highway Patrol. Knowledge of local roadways and special driving problems and techniques caused by frequent inclement weather; safe driving practices; California Motor Vehicle Code

CalPERS Retirees Encouraged to Apply Qualified CalPERS retirees who currently possess the required school bus driver licenses, certificates, and medical clearance are encouraged to apply. Due to an immediate shortage of qualified school bus drivers, the District is experiencing interruptions to student transportation services, including the cancellation of routes. The District is seeking qualified drivers to provide temporary extra-help services to assist in maintaining student transportation operations. Retired annuitant appointments will be temporary and made in accordance with applicable CalPERS post-retirement employment requirements and Government Code sections 7522.56 and 21229. Retired annuitant assignments are not intended to serve as a permanent solution to the District's staffing needs.
