Requirements / Qualifications
Multiple Subject Credentials. Preliminary or clear credentials only and with English Learner Authorization. Transitional Kindergarten teachers at BUSD must comply with the regulations set forth for TK teachers by the State of CA or our Board approved Comparable Experience. Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) has established the following in accordance with Education Code 48000(g)(4). “comparable experience” is to be defined as one of the following: * Assigned to Transitional Kindergarten on or before July 1, 2015; or * Completed at least 24 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or both; or * Hold a Child Development Teacher permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing; or * Taught at least two years in Transitional Kindergarten; or * Taught at least two years in Kindergarten; or * Possess a Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or both; or * Holds a PreKindergarten-3 Teacher Permit along with a Multiple Subjects Credential ***Be sure to include paperwork in application that shows you qualify to teach TK in our district.
BUSD requires a Letter of Introduction, Resume, 3 letters of Recommendation with at least one from someone who supervised you, Copies of all Transcripts, Copy of Credential, or copies of all materials sent to California Commission on Teacher Credentialing if an out-of-state candidate. We only accept candidates with a Preliminary or Clear Multiple Subject credential for our elementary positions. IF you are going to be getting your Preliminary Credential before August 1st, feel free to apply and just mention your credential status in letter of interest. Also, if you are from out of state and are in the process of getting a California credential based on having a credential out of state then also feel free to submit application and include copies of all materials that you have submitted to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing with your application. We do not accept Intern credential candidate for this position. Remember that you have to qualify for TK here via one of the approved areas of BUSD comparable experience.
