About the position: Adelanto Elementary School District is seeking dependable, flexible, and student-centered individuals to serve as substitute teachers throughout our district. Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining continuity of instruction and providing a safe, positive, and productive learning environment for students. Assignments may be available across our K–8 schools and may include general education and special education classrooms. Essential responsibilities: Follow the lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher. Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment. Provide appropriate instruction and supervision to students. Support student learning and classroom routines. Communicate professionally with school staff and administrators. Follow district policies, procedures, and expectations for student conduct. Complete any required documentation related to the assignment.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum qualifications Applicants must meet one of the following: • Possess a valid California teaching credential or Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit; or Be eligible to obtain an appropriate California substitute teaching permit. Applicants who do not currently hold a permit or credential may be considered based on district needs and applicable California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requirements. Desired qualifications: Experience working with school-age children. Strong classroom management skills. Ability to follow lesson plans and maintain classroom routines. Flexibility and dependability. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and adapt to different classroom settings. Compensation and employment information: Daily Rate: $250 per day. Employment Type: Part-time, as-needed. Work Year: 2026/2027 school year. Assignments are based on district needs and substitute availability. Long-term assignments may be available and are subject to district requirements and approval. Important information: Successful candidates must complete the district’s required hiring and onboarding process, which may include fingerprinting, verification of credentials or permits, and other employment requirements. District Fingerprinting is required at time of employment and the cost is $32.00.
