Position Summary The High School Varsity Basketball Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing the school’s basketball program. This includes coaching student-athletes in the fundamentals of basketball, fostering academic and athletic excellence, ensuring compliance with school and league policies, and promoting a positive team culture rooted in sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, organize, and conduct practices, games, and off-season training sessions Instruct athletes in techniques, strategy, and conditioning appropriate for high school basketball Promote teamwork, discipline, respect, and responsibility among athletes Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, games, and travel Develop and maintain a culture of academic accountability and personal development Supervise assistant coaches and collaborate with the athletic department and school staff Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms; ensure proper use and storage Monitor and enforce compliance with all school, district, league, and state regulations Keep accurate daily attendance Travel to all away contests and follow all vehicle laws when driving district vehicles Engage with families, the community, and booster organizations as appropriate Uphold and model district and school policies, expectations, and values Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of basketball techniques, tactics, and safety best practices Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community Leadership skills with the ability to build relationships and motivate athletes Organizational skills for managing team operations, schedules, and logistics Knowledge of CIF or applicable high school athletic governing body rules Minimum Qualifications Experience playing and/or coaching basketball at the high school level or higher High school diploma or equivalent Current CPR/
