BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the principal or assistant principal at the school site, the Clerk I performs work of average difficulty in the school office or District Office which involves specific clerical tasks, statistical records, and educational documents. Performs clerical and routine office duties, provides first aid.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Accurately processes and maintains documents and records.
- Types, compiles and processes educational program and reports.
- Assumes telephone and reception duties in the school office.
- Performs office and clerical functions with average efficiency and understanding.
- Assist the school office personnel as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of basic office/clerical routine and responsibility.
- Knowledge of modern office methods and equipment, including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, letter and report writing, first aid practices, proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation, math, and state and county school reporting and record keeping requirements.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate a typewriter, calculator, copier equipment and various other office equipment efficiently.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, parents, students, and others.
- Must be able to type at a net corrected speed of 45 wpm.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Pass a District proficiency test.
- Valid California Driver’s license or Valid ID.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

EVALUATION PROTOCOL:
Evaluator: Site Principal
Probationary Period: Probation period will commence the 1st working day after board approval and conclude at the end of the 9th month from that date.
Evaluation Period: During the probation period evaluations shall occur at least twice prior to attaining permanent status. After permanent status, evaluations will occur on or before April 1st of each year.
