Organizes, coordinates, and promotes a comprehensive athletic program in the assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community; provides effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic achievement; demonstrates a high degree of ethics, professionalism, human relations, and is a positive role model for all students. 1 positions available: 7th & 8th Grade Boys

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications & Abilities: - Possess one of the following: ~ A valid California Teaching Credential; or ~ A valid California Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and one of the following: > At least 48 Semester Units (or equivalent quarter units) from an accredited college or university; or > A Paraprofessional certificate (CODESP exam) - CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required. - Knowledge of student behavior management strategies and techniques. - Knowledge of the assigned sport. - Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport preferred. - Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Essential Functions: - Teaches sport techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics. - Maintains a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants. - Communicates effectively with students, parents/guardians, and District staff regarding program expectations and activities. - Conditions athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength, and agility. - Supervises and conducts practices and contests safely; supervises locker rooms and buses. - Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, and a strong work ethic among student-athletes. - Encourages and supports student-athletes in maintaining satisfactory attendance, academic progress, and appropriate conduct. - Responds to player injuries with appropriate first-aid techniques. - Manages uniforms, equipment, and District facilities in a safe and responsible manner. - Follows all District policies and procedures related to student supervision, safety, and mandatory reporting. - Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
