JOB TITLE: Guidance Center Technician
Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of "Guidance Technician" is done for the purpose/s of performing responsible and/or technical functions and activities; providing assistance to students, staff and the community; providing students with information on career and/or post high school educational opportunities; administering and interpreting career assessment tools.
Essential Job Functions:
* Prepares documents (e.g. student records, student registration and scheduling) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and conveying information.
* Assists students for the purpose of providing them with information.
* Directs student aides for the purpose of providing an effective program and addressing the needs of students.
* Evaluates students' eligibility for the purpose of determining career and educational opportunities.
* Promotes scholarship, college and career opportunities including Regional Occupational Program for the purpose of assisting students in their transition to post high school options.
* Administers various tests for the purpose of assisting in determining students’ placement and competency.
* Presents information on various topics to students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of providing required information and advice.
* Processes documents and materials for the purpose of disseminating information.
Other Job Functions:
* Researches educational and career opportunities for the purpose of providing students with information on career and educational opportunities.
* Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.
Job Requirements - Qualifications:
* Experience Required: Prior job related experience.
* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skill to complete basic clerical functions, use English in both written and verbal form; operate standard office equipment, use computers, perform record keeping, make presentations before groups; communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents
Knowledge of public education goals and objectives in a secondary setting.
Ability to learn regulations and operational guidelines on the District registrations, scheduling, proficiency and graduation requirements; sit for prolonged periods, correlate student performance with career information, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet deadlines, maintain records and catalog information. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing, near visual acuity.
* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Health Physical Clearance, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance.

This position is 8 hours per day, 209 days per year, and is located at Twin Oaks High School.
Anticipated working hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Employees new to the District are allowed salary schedule placement credit for up to two (2) years of previous experience with a maximum salary schedule entry placement for step three (3).
