Job Summary

Job Summary

The Craig School is seeking a substitute Education Specialist to cover classes in 3rd through 8th grade as needed. The Craig School is a small private school designed specifically for children with challenges with executive function skills. The Craig School serves children in grades 3-8, many of whom have a diagnosis of ADHD and/or Autism.   The Craig School is also certified by the California Department of Education as a Non-Public School qualified to serve children eligible for Special Education.   We are now accepting applications for a substitute Education Specialist to cover when teachers are absent as needed.  We require a candidate who is credentialed to serve students with mild to moderate impairment with certification in serving students found eligible for Special Education under Autism and/or OHI. The substitute is responsible for providing instruction, monitoring student progress toward goals, and is supported by two specially trained paraprofessional behavior specialists in the classroom (approximate 1:5 staff to student ratio) and a behavioral health professional case manager. The Craig School is a fun, supportive environment that provides frequent opportunities for professional development, growth, and enrichment for all employees.  Ideal candidates possess an eagerness to deliver curricula and instructional materials for children with neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD, ASD, and Specific Learning Disorders. It is key that candidates understand the mission, goals, and objectives of The Craig School. The possession of an education specialist credential or preliminary SPED credential are required.

Requirements / Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in education, psychology or a related field to instruction or child development.  Possession of a valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Education Specialist Credential (mild/mod).
